He was predeceased by: his siblings, Orrin Helstad (Charlotte), Allen Helstad and Eunice Ellifson (Archie). He is survived by: his wife Jan (Jan); his siblings, Merlin Helstad (Ann) and Doris Modahl (Roy); and his nieces, Melanie Simon and Peggy Olevson.
