He was predeceased by: his parents, Magnus Eliason (Mack) and Alice Eliason (Weinhardt); his wife Mary Edith Eliason (Arnquist); his close friend Joyce Goodrich; and his siblings-in-law, Jeannette Eliason (Herold) and Wallace Otto.

He is survived by: his siblings, Maxine M. Otto and James W. Eliason Sr.; his children, Barbara Durand (Paul) and Mark Eliason (Heidi); his grandchildren, Ella, Jedidiah Durand and Myah Eliason; his nieces and nephews, Carmen Wabbe (Mark), Douglas Otto, LuAnn Frederickson (Greg), Martha Eckerline (Peter), Karyn Schuler (Michael) and Jim Eliason Jr. (Barb); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Anaka and Landen Eliason.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Lutheran Church can be made in Don's name.
