He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Bender and Alice Bender (Kozlowski); his siblings, Sharon Kinnard and Ronald; his parents-in-law, Mary Jane and Gordon Koegel; and his sister-in-law Kim Koerber.
He is survived by: his wife Kristine; his daughters, Sara Palamaruk (Jeremy) and Soni Salm (Matt); his grandchildren, Josh, Delaney, Alie, Beckett and Connolly; his siblings, Carol Bender, Janet Dahl, Joe Bender (Kristy), Donna Hansen (Henry), George Bender (Sherry), Tom Bender (Charlene), Allen Bender (Jill), Diane Hibbard (Mark) and Frances Bauman (Scott); his brothers-in-law, Mike Kinnard and Dar Koerber; his aunts, Marie Bender, Bev Kozlowski and Betty Proeber; and also, Kathy Koegel (Cliff Dillhunt), Karen Jones (Harry) and Kay Steiner (Doug). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
