He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Hayes and Lola Hayes (Owens); and his brothers, Duane Hayes, Jack Hayes and Harvey Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Rena Armbruster; his sons, Greg Hayes, Mike Hayes (Tracey) and Steve Hayes; his siblings, Daniel Hayes, Harley Hayes and Margaret Koolmo; his sisters-in-law, Alice Mercord, Lisa Hayes, Sally Hayes and Elaine Hayes; and his daughter Angel Johnson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
