He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Melstrom and Ollie Melstrom (Whipple); his son Peter Melstrom; and his siblings, Betty Rosenow, Glen, Charles, Perry (Dorene), Royce, Gary and Duane.
He is survived by: his wife Marianne Dirner; his children, Steve Melstrom (Sally), Scott Melstrom (Terri Howe), Mark Melstrom (Carol), Teresa Strom (Mark) and Mary Melstrom; his grandchildren, Peter Girdeen, Ross Girdeen, Gary Melstrom, Jamie Freese (Toby Rivord), Jared Melstrom (Katy), Jenna O'Malley (Dennis), Chad Melstrom (Emily Lansing), Chase Melstrom (Heather), Carlie DuBose (Jeffrey), Riley Melstrom (Kendra), Logan Melstrom (Mallory Bleeker), Paige Strom (Jon Walter), Mason Strom, Chelsy Strom (Trent Schug), Sawyer Strom, Makara Strom, Kaden Strom, Delanie Strom, Tenley Strom, Conner Ekholm, Coby Ekholm, Cale Ekholm and Cramer Ekholm; his brother Donald Melstrom; and his in-laws, Bob Rosenow, Lois Melstrom, Mavis Melstrom and Liz Melstrom. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
