He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Hoffman; his children, Carolyn Ness, Joan Wittman (Jay), Michael Hoffman and Liz Jansen (Kurt); his grandchildren, Kelcie, Jacob Wittman and Elise Jansen; and his siblings, Debbie Olson, Darrell Hoffman and Sharon Hoffman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to the Clothing Outreach Center of Calvary Community Church or St Croix Hospice.

“Our sympathy to all the family. We often remember the times when you were our neighbors in Elkhorn when our children were very young and spent a lot of time together. I also remember riding the same school bus as Gene when we were going to Walworth High School. We had some good visits on those bus rides and he was always so friendly.”
