She was predeceased by: her parents, Ed Riek and Pearl Riek (Schultz); her husband William L. Sigmund; and her siblings, Doris Bodden, Jeanette Kammeraad, Gordy, Ed, Terry and Robert "Red" Riek.

She is survived by: her children, Steven Sigmund (Celeste) of Finland, MN, Mark Sigmund (Caryn) of Rockford, IL and Jean Sigmund of Elkhorn; her grandchildren, Danielle Sigmund, Stephanie Nelson (Alex), Michael Thomson, Evan Sigmund, Jake and Kyle Rotta; her great grandchild Bria Nelson; and her sisters, Louise Stafford of Sandy, OR, Betty Bauman of Burlington, WI. and Joyce Bulow of Burlington, WI..

“In loving memory of Esther Sigmund, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Esther and I have been friends since 1950. She has always been my dearest friend and I will treasure my memories of her life and the wonderful family gatherings that I shared with her. She was the most thoughtful and loving friend I have and I will miss her deeply. I wish I could have attended her funeral but living in Dundas, MN (400 miles away) during the this epidemic it was not possible.”
