He is survived by: his children, Gary Duerst (Ann) of Monona, WI, Kristine Brown (Mike) of Colby, WI, John Duerst (Pam) of Whitewater, WI and Sue Earle (Bob) of East Troy, WI; and his grandchildren, Rachel Solberg (Jason) of Eau Claire, WI, Heather Thompson (Paul) of Madison, WI, Jamie Crahen of Cottage Grove, WI, Katie Crahen (Dan Aaron) of Monona, WI, Sarah Brown Fasching (Andy Fasching), Matthew Brown (Steve Gillitzer) of Madison, WI, Anna Vang (Dao) of Ridgeland, WI, Meghan Anderson (Kyle) of Waukesha, Brian Duerst (Heather) of Waukesha, Hannah Anhalt (Nathan) of East Troy, WI and Audrey Earle of East Troy, WI. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
