He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Thornton and Dorothy Thornton (Greene); his former wife Marjorie "Marnie" Evans; and his sisters, Virginia Rebol and Marjorie "Nancy" Pittner.
He is survived by: his wife Ana Friese; his sons, Steve Thornton (Kathy) of Naperville, IL and John Thornton (Mary Beth); his stepdaughter Mia McMillan (Robert); and his grandchildren, Kristin, Matthew Thornton, Maya and Jostin McMillan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bill's name to benefit Veteran's organizations.
