With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Donald G. Scharlau of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, who passed away on August 26, 2021 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Idella Scharlau (Schwartz); his siblings, George and Bonita Knudson; his brothers-in-law, James Olson and Dennis Huxhold; and his stepmother Ethel Scharlau.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen M. Olson; his children, Don (Kathy), Theresa Ruff (James), Carolyn Loechler (David), Anne Wahl (Scott), John Scharlau (Christina), Peter Scharlau (Lisa) and Daniel Scharlau (Robin); his grandchildren, Mary, Michael Wahl (Sarah), Elizabeth Deutscher (Brian), Katherine, Thomas, Joseph, Timothy, Rebecca Wahl, Anthony Ruff, Matthew Loechler (Bechorah), Theresa Delgado (Omar), Christina Myers (Jordan), Nicholas Loechler, Daniel Wahl (Tamika), Gregory, Emily, William, Kevin, Grace, Helen Wahl, Marianne, Andrea, George, Rachel, Jack, Benjamin, Anna, Kathryn, Nora Scharlau, Jordan Faschingbauer, Lauren, Noah, Samuel, Jacelynn Scharlau, Sarah (Alex), Christopher (McKenna), Jacob, Kaitlyn and Matthew Scharlau; his great grandchildren, Erin Harmon (Mason), James, Jacob, Lucas Wahl, Dylan, Logan Deutscher, Angelina, Juniper, Chloe Loechler, Olivia Delgado, Xavier and Emelia Wahl; his siblings, Arlene Huxhold and David Scharlau (Mary Jo); and his sister-in-law Kay Olson. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Lady of Fatima School in India.

Cher Schlieve wrote a sympathy message

“Kathy, I've just learned of Don's passing today, when I went out to Pleasant Valley and asked about the two of you. I'm so very sorry for your loss, but know he's in a better place now, and not feeling the ravages of disease. My understanding is that you are doing well, and living in a warm and welcoming place, close to your family. Your tree farm was an integral part of my family and I thank you.
