He was predeceased by: his father Richard "Dick" Emerson; his grandparents, Mina, Jens Emerson, Henry Tollefson, Paul and Hattie Thalacker; his nephew Michael Emerson; and his brother-in-law Mike Shafer.
He is survived by: his mother Jane Emerson (Thalacker) of Eleva; his siblings, Steve Emerson (Fay) of Eleva, Wayne Emerson (Angie) of Strum, Pamela Shafer of Eleva and Paula Gullicksrud (Steven) of Strum; his nieces and nephews, Josh Gullicksrud (Angie) of Strum, Christopher Emerson (Katie), Josh Burce (Darla) of Eleva, Amanda Van Sickle (Ryan) of Strum, Cory Gullicksrud (Sadie) of Strum, Anthony Sharer and Aleasha Brown (Brandon) of Eleva; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Macy Gullicksrud, Landon, Hazel Emerson, Gretta, Zachary Burce and Eclipse Brown.
