He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Swomia and Johanna Swomia (Jajtner); and his brother-in-law Don McGuiness. He is survived by: his children, Kim Swanson (Jeff) of Ixonia, Kurt Swomia of Racine, Kevin Swomia (Christine) of Racine and Brian Swomia (Mandy) of Sun Prairie; his grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan Swanson, Haley and Sydney Swomia; and his sister Joyce McGuiness.
