He is survived by: his wife Maxine Sparks; his children, Steven DesJarlais (Amanda) of Deerbrook and Erin DesJarlais of Antigo; his grandchildren, Alexus, Keagan, Logan DesJarlais and Matthew Sprague; his brothers, Myron Des Jarlais (Christine) of Utah and Byron Des Jarlais (Jill) of Crystal Falls, MI; his siblings-in-law, Frances Branson (Baker) of Elcho, Susan King of Rhinelander, Althea Adkins of Pelican Lake, Angela Roberts (Jeffrey) of Summit Lake, Christine Awonohopay, Wayne Sparks of Pelican Lake and Michael Sparks (Marianne) of Elcho; and his nieces and nephews, Amanda Sparks, Ben Des Jarlais, Luke Sparks (Suzy), Michelle Lee (Preston), Wiley Allard, Jake Allard, Samantha Herrmann (Jason), Raistlin (Dana), Donovin, Naethin, Kamerin and Ethin Awonohopay.
