He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Gertrude Wellnitz Sr. (Theismann); his wife Roseann; his granddaughter Jenna Mae Wellnitz; his great grandchild Madeline Wellnitz; and his siblings, Dorothy, Laura, Joann and Robert.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Wellnitz (Sharon), Mike Wellnitz (Rae), Karen Reed (Dan), Jeff Wellnitz (Suzanne), Sandra Harnack (Frank), Dan Wellnitz (Kathleen), Deanna Schuette, Dave Wellnitz (Lyn), Chris Wellnitz (Tina), Brenda Koel, Lisa Crandall (Tony), Kevin Wellnitz (Kim), Mark Wellnitz and Andy Wellnitz (Katie); and his sister Marion Wellnitz. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren.
