He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Scheffler and Elsie Scheffler (Ewan); his wife Darlene Haderlein; and his siblings, Dorothy Krueger, Marion Kroll and David Scheffler.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Scheffler, Edgar, Janet Alama (Al) and Vicki Chroust (Kurt); his grandchildren, Miranda Diehn (Steve), Amanda Frazier, Dr. Matthew Chroust (Amanda) and Daniel Chroust; his great grandchildren, Kaden, Conner Frazier and Kennedy Esters; his brother Kenneth Scheffler; and his sisters-in-law, Emmie Scheffler and Lois Haderlein.
