He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Kornitz and Freida Kornitz (Nienhardt); his sister Sharon; his parents-in-law, Joe and Jean Baumhardt; and his brother-in-law Jerome Baumhardt.
He is survived by: his wife Joan (Baumhardt); his daughters, Kaye Kass (Mark) and Laura Mastropolo; his grandchildren, Tyler Mastropolo, Abby Kass, Marlea Mastropolo and Noah Friedenfels; and his siblings-in-law, James Baumhardt (Karen), John Baumhardt (Janey), Jay Baumhard (Vicky), Jane Davis (John) and Sharon Baumhardt. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Eden Fire Department, the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, or the Alzheimer's Association.
