He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward McDowell and Esther McDowell (Frey); his sisters, Audrey Pettack and Donna Kraemer; and his brothers-in-law, Lester Pettack, Bob Kraemer and Tony Bentz.
He is survived by: his wife Patti McDowell (Biller); his son Matthew McDowell (Tracy); his grandsons, Brant McDowell (Taylor) and Brady McDowell; his great grandchildren, Zane and Knox; his sister Karen Bentz; his stepchildren, Craig Cooper (Kathy), Richard Cooper (Denise) and Janie Cooper Goettl (Jim); and his stepgrandchildren, Jessie Phillips (Jim), Jeff Cooper, Jeanette Britton (Rawleigh), Eric Cooper, Craig CooperJr, Jeff Goettl (Jessica) and Kristine Stariha (Ross). He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many more relatives and friends.
