He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Bain and Fern Bain; his grandparents, George, Ida Bain, Arthur and Margaret Hentschel; his children, Robert and Angela; and his granddaughter Aylen.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Hays of John's Lutheran Church; his sons, Thomas (Jennifer) and Tim (Chris); his grandchildren, Nathan, Janelle and Sam; and his sisters, Penny Erickson (late Dick), Jean Yolitz (Lynn) and Marlene Rud (Darrell).
