He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nielsen and Rose Nielsen (Hansen); his siblings, Jean Urbanek (Lloyd), Eleanor Riedemann (Dutch) and Ruth Heggen; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Finbraaten and Hugh Marshall.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Erickson; his daughters, Erika Koenig (Jeff) and Greta Homme (Darrin); his grandchildren, Henry, Ella, Milo, Elara and Brynn; and his siblings, Evelyn Landbo (Harry), Harry Nielsen (Marilyn), Nancy Finbraaten, Esther Marshall and Martha Coulter (John). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
