He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Merryfield and Lucille Merryfield (Evans); and his siblings, Keith, Boyd and Phyllis.

He is survived by: his wife Ellen; his children, Rickey Merryfield (Mindy) of Eau Claire, Debora Reynolds (Ernie) of Eau Claire and Michael Merryfield (Anne) of Tomahawk; his grandchildren, Jessica (Amy), Meghan (John), Eric (Ashley), Jason, Cassie (Tony), Allie, Becca (Bryce), Emily, Kristin and Kaydon; and his great grandchildren, Oliver, Samuel, Flynn, Aurora, Alexander, Max and Luci.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Joseph's Home Health & Hospice Care.
