He is survived by: his wife Darlene Payne; his children, Angie Mabb (Marshall), Ed Payne (Terri), Milo Payne (Julie), Teesha Smethurst (Chad), Jonathan Payne (Maggie), Dustin Payne (Megan) and Brittany Payne (Joe Zook); his siblings, Vicki Linder, Debra Davidson (Lennie) and Richard "Rick" Payne; his sister-in-law Rochelle Payne; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Lena Zabel; his siblings-in-law, Judene Schlee (Mark), Debbie Hermann (Kip) and Donald Zabel; and his grandchildren, Amber, Clayton, Preston, Vince, Alexis, Morgan, Olivia, Nick, Ava, Christian, Aiden, Leo, Nolan, Taylor, Jared, Evan, Lily, Landon, Avery, Hayven, Irelynn, Emersyn, Mason, Caleb, Lena, Hudson, Mabel, Mavrick and Kayleigh. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at 1916 S Marquette Rd, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821. The military honors was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
