He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlie Messer and Ethel Messer; his siblings, Richard, Virginia Robinson and Arlene Messer; his grandson Dillon Messer; and his son-in-law Mark Kemmerling.

He is survived by: his wife Geneva Lewis; his children, Linda Kemmerling of Antigo, Pam Grace (Bob) of Antigo, Gina Zahurones (Frank) of Antigo and Larry Messer (Dixie) of Antigo; and his siblings, Betsy Pranke (Ervin) of White Lake, Judy Rineholen (John), Paulette Dallman (Roger) of Mondovi, Janie Holbrook (Cecil) of White Lake, Arlie Messer (Diane) of Rapid City, SD and Leroy Messer (Lois) of White Lake.

His faith was his foundation.
