He was predeceased by: his father George Hei; his sisters, Bonnie Vande Hei and Lois Vande Hei; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Calmes, Don and Grace Hockers.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Hockers; his daughters, Erin Vande Hei (Dustin) and Renee Roffers (Brandon); his grandsons, Cameron and Caysen; his siblings, Eleanor DeGroot (Tom), Joan Calmes, Helen Hietpas (Ron), Mary Haupt, Mel Vande Hei (Blanca) and Elaine DeGroot (Fred); and his siblings-in-law, Lee Hockers (Cindy), Tim Hockers (Barb) and Dave Hockers (Jane). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Steve.
