He was predeceased by: his father Howie Nowak; his grandparents, Bill, Cecelia Nowak, Joe and Dorothy Thomson; his godparents, Tom and Nancy Thomson; and his cousin Jeff.
He is survived by: his mother Joy Nowak (Thomson); his close friend Jeff; his children, Emma Polarek (Bryan), Erika Nowak (Josh Myers) and Luke Nowak; his sisters, Cindy Wagner (Mike) and Lori McNerney (Mike); his former wife Annjie; and his aunts and uncles, Bill Nowak (Nancy), Chet Nowak, Dick Thomson (Julie), Julie Willems (Mike), Jeff Thomson, Marty Thomson (Di) and Kay Thomson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for Mark.
