He was predeceased by: his parents, Jule Thiry and Virginia Thiry (Alsteen); his stepmother Anna; his sons-in-law, Fred Punzel and Michael Byrne; and his great grandchildren, Jessica and David Byrne.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Van Lanen; his children, Susan Herrmann, Judith Punzel, Fort Atkinson, Kathleen Thiry (John Carpenter), Marilyn Byrne, James Thiry (Debra), De Pere, Steven Thiry (Chris), David Thiry (Lucy), Little Suamico and Mary Bangert (Earl); and his close friend Joseph Herrmann. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
