He was predeceased by: his parents, Norbert Phillips and Alice Phillips (Vanden Plas); and his brother Joseph C. Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Matzke; and his former wife Mary Jane Stodola (Phillips). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that you go out and talk to a stranger and make a new friend.
