He is survived by: his former wife Janet Smits (Krcma); his spouse Jan Bogren; his children, Skyler Marie Jensen, Jeremy Smits (Annette) and Ashley Rusch (Erich); his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Austin Smits and Robert Rusch; his stepmother Patricia Smits; his siblings, Diane Fonder, Gary Smits, Dave Smits (Mary), Sue Houtman (Jae), Steve Smits (Lynn), Barb Mayer (Tracy), Mike Smits (Patti), Kevin Smits (Michelle), Rick Smits (Elaine) and Lisa Wojciehowski (Tom); his parents-in-law, Tom Bogren (Jane), Dennis Bogren (Betsy Turner-Bogren), Donna Bogren and Kay Bogren (Hugh Vandegriff); and his godson Brandon Dutton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
