He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Benjamin Benson, Sr. and Evelyn Christensen; his wife Sandra Benson (Sturn); his daughter Anne Benson; his siblings, Benjamin "Skip" Benson Jr. and Germaine Leichtenberg; and his siblings-in-law, Donald, Peggy (Milne), Suzanne, Robert (Strayer) and Debra. He was also cherished by many Nieces and Nephews, and two Granddogs.

Memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital; Shriners Hospitals for Children; the charitable organization that his Daughter, Anne, volunteers for, This Old Horse (Hastings, MN); or the rescues his Granddogs came from, The American Humane Society or Ruff Start Rescue (Princeton, MN).
