He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Agnes Eleanor Schmidt (Johnson) and George Harold Schmidt Sr.; his wife Emily; his children, Don Phillip, Christian Joseph and Mary Caroline; his stepgrandchildren, Dayna and Timothy; his son John Thomas Schmidt (Becky Lynn Schmidt) of Verona, Wisconsin.; his grandsons, Matthew Schmidt (Kari Ann Stevens) of Portland, Oregon., Benjamin Schmidt (Danielle Alexander) of Portland, Oregon. and Mark Schmidt (Mariah Williams) of Portland, Oregon.; and his brother-in-law Thomas A. Phillips of Virginia. He was also cherished by nephews, nieces.
