He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Wichern and Rosa Wichern (Allrich); his stepfather Hugh; and his siblings, Reinhardt and Rosell Portz.
He is survived by: his sibling Valley; his former wife Judith Nystrom; and his children, Pamela Halvorson (Doyal), Sandra Wichern, Tammy Hiltner (Ronald), Miles (Mindy) and Merle (Irene). He is also survived by ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
