He is survived by: his wife Sheila Ekenstedt (Ernsberger); his children, David Ekenstedt (Rebecca), Kari Ekenstedt and Matthew Ekenstedt; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel and Aria Ekenstedt; his brother William Jr. Ekenstedt (Sharon); and his sister-in-law Sharon Zipf (Paul).
