Kevin Meuer sent flowers

“When we first met, I was a difficult 'new-hire' Joe managed. He needed to scold me for errors. Yet he sensed my embarrassment. Days later we connected at a record store. He took interest in my music taste, asking tactful questions; never interrupting. We'd become great friends sharing music, sports and life. True to Joe's ability to lift spirits, he always flattered. He'd invite me to band or piano practices. I had short skills. But Joe held long-fondness for anyone expressing themselves musically. Inevitably Joe would implore me to join in. I'm so grateful for how Joe and family enticed me to join many events. Concerts in Madison. Badger games with Tom and Phil. Brewer games, including two World Series. Precious nights on the Terrace or at a Madison hangout. I felt part of the family. Joe's devotion to music, friends and family cannot be measured. His talents, be it song or playwright, were always shared. His spirit, be it conscious or in principle, always humble. I will miss my mentor!”
