He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Harrenstein and Janice Harrenstein (Dyslin); his brother Mike Harrenstein; his parents-in-law, Bonard and Dorotha Leatherberry; and his siblings-in-law, Diane Leatherberry and Harold Prucha.

He is survived by: his wife Lori Leatherberry; his son Jeremy Harrenstein; his brother Kurt Harrenstein (Karla); his siblings-in-law, Becky Harrenstein, Bonita Prucha, Gale Nelson (Ron) and Gary Leatherberry (Lucy); and his nieces and nephews, Bryan Harrenstein (Lisa), Laura Deusa (Colin), Gary Prucha (Stacy), Craig Prucha, Kristen Klein (Josh), Deb Volk (Bob), Ang Griffing (John), Tom Leatherberry (Jen), Rich Nelson (Bonnie) and Kim Kreklow (Collin). He is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews; many friends.
