He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Steinmuller and Evelyn Steinmuller (Hart); and his brother Raymond Steinmuller. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee; his daughters, Jill Hopkins (Brad) and Kristie Pecard (Dan); his grandchildren, Sophia Hopkins, Josephine Hopkins, Carson Hopkins, Connor Pecard, Emma Pecard and Juliet Pecard; his siblings, David Steinmuller (Pat) and Sylvia Habermehl (Bob); and his siblings-in-law, Ralph Persico (Joe) and Debra Persico.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in John's name to IHM, Sisters of Mary Morning Star.
