He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Martens and Mary Martens (Hecker); and his brothers, Peter and Bill. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Martens (Burkel); his brother Walter Martens; his children, Hans D. (Vicki), Jeffrey, Timothy (Janet), Joel and Molly; and his stepchildren, Howard Burkel (Janet) and Deann Burkel. He is also survived by 4 step grandchildren, 13 step great-grandchildren; along with many cousins, nephews and nieces.
