He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Helbig and Julia Helbig (Anderson); and his siblings, Charles Scott Helbig, James Helbig and Nancy Slater.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen Marie Schultz (Letellier) of Comstock; his sons, John C. Helbig (Elizabeth) of Pine River and Robert L. Helbig (Angelina) of Amery; his stepsons, Eric Cress (Sam) of Ham Lake and Ed Cress of New Richmond; his grandchildren, Natasha, Kyle (Kristie), Mason, Isaac, Ashley and Mackenzie; his great grandchildren, Layne, Heath, Evelyn and John; and his sister Jane Miller (Joe) of Chetek.
