He was predeceased by: his parents, Candidus Meier and Frieda Helen Teresa Meier; and his siblings, Carl, Harold, Gerhard, Harry, Joseph, Elizabeth Schultz and Hilda Poetter.

He is survived by: his former wife Elizabeth Louise Pick; his wife Margaret Smith (Bessette) of Beaver Dam; his children, Bruce Meier (Buffy), Pam Palmer (Roger), Laurie Meier (Phil Graham) and Jeffrey Meier; his grandchildren, Jamie Droz (Steve), Heidi Stauffer (Jon), Tanner Meier (Chelci), Haley Meier (Julio Devora), Michael Richardson (Heather), Marcus Meier (Cortney Dalby), Abby Ailes, Kendra Meier, Bowen Meier and Katie Meier; his great grandchildren, Mikayla, Austin, Aubree, Landon, Madison, Summer, Sylas, Hadley, Elena and Elizabeth; and his sister Marion Frances Birkholz of Waupun. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
