He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Gardehl and Gladys Gardehl (Monsky); and his siblings, Jerry Gardehl and Ardith Dehler. He is survived by: his wife Carole Stull; his stepdaughter Victoria Brandenbury (Scott); and his stepgranddaughter Melanie Pensborn. He is also survived by four nieces and four nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Doylestown or the Columbia County Humane Society.
