He is survived by: his mother Gertrude Schmidt Sr. (Zansler) of Owatonna, MN; his wife Diane Schmidt; his son Joe Schmidt (Peggy) of Chelsea, ME; his grandchildren, Honore, Alex and Eddie; his siblings, Cynthia Stock (Joe) of Washburn, WI, Bryan Schmidt of Northfield, MN, Annette Kloos (Doug) of Owatonna, MN, Barry Schmidt (Nancy) of Montgomery, MN and Joel Schmidt (Tracy) of Mapleton, MN; and his mother-in-law Margaret VandenBush. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
