He was predeceased by: his parents, George Kern and Agnes Kern (Weiland); his wife Gaila; his siblings, Clotta Lamb (Vernon), Gertrude Joos (Art), Althea Kern and Vernon Kern (Iola "Toby"); his stepchildren, Carol Lingnofski (Mike) and Jeff Conn; and his stepsons-in-law, Jerry Lorge and Bob Ruckdashel.
He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Pat Ruckdashel and Leanna Lorge; and his close friend Shirley Hanson. He is also survived by her extended family, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
