He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Merten and Wanita Bessette; and his nephew Uriah Anderson. He is survived by: his children, Zachariah Merten (Ashley), Hunter Merten and Uriah Merten; his grandchildren, Raina Merten and Benton Merten; his siblings, Randy Merten, Cheryl Spranger (Jim) and Audrey Springstroh (Perry); his close friend Dewey; and his nieces and nephews, Amy Spranger, Angela Putzer, Scott Pingel, Danielle Herrick, Brittany Herrick, Brenda Anderson, Craig Merten, Christina Merten and Chris Merten. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
