He is survived by: his wife Joan Simonson; his children, Dr. Mark Bessette (Rasia), Dr. Peter Bessette (Cari) and Denise Benson; his grandchildren, Nicolas Bessette, Zina Bessette and Eva Bessette; and his siblings, Lorraine Borchardt and Dale Bessette (Joyce).
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis' name are preferred to be directed to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
