He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace "Walt" Akey and Pauline Akey (Frantz); his sister Karen; and his brother-in-law Jim. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Akey; his sons, Torin Akey (Lynn) and Rian Akey (Shaun Kane); his grandchildren, Konner and Kaiden Akey; and his niece Khym Kreider (Pat McKay).
