He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Koenig and Leola Koenig (Schumacher); his wife Caroline Kauss; his brother Oren; and his niece Laura.

He is survived by: his sons, Monte Koenig (Melissa) and Ryan Koenig (Maria Dahlke); his sister Gloria Rathke (Rick); and his brother-in-law Steve Kauss (Barb). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors.
