He was predeceased by: his parents, Etha May (Chapin) and Conrad Joas; his wife Susan J. Joas (Lambert); and his siblings, Catherine Duel (Norm), Mary O'Connell (Pat), Kenneth (Rose), George (Merilynn) and Leonard.

He is survived by: his children, Connie Pyatt of Minneapolis, Jacque Daniel (Dan) of Chippewa Falls, Richard Joas (Mary) of Carver and Patrick Joas (Joel) of Eden Prairie, Minn.. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
