He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Moldenhauer and Esther Moldenhauer (Heine); his daughter-in-law Karen Moldenhauer; his brother Merlin Moldenhauer; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Klingbeil and Merle Pilgrim.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Klingbeil; his grandchildren, Tyler Moldenhauer (Alisha), Kyle Moldenhauer (Staci), Allen Fischer (Cynthia), Stephen Fischer, Thomas Moldenhauer (Jacklyn), Lindsey Polden (Jerad), Ryan Moldenhauer (Julie), Riley Moldenhauer, Ryan Fox, Katelyn Fox, Donielle Norberg (Benji), Austin Moldenhauer (Candace), Sam Jaenke, Emily Jaenke, Madison Moldenhauer and Hunter Moldenhauer; his sister Lucille Pilgrim; his sister-in-law Jean Moldenhauer; and his brothers, David Klingbeil, Robert Klingbeil and Richard Klingbeil. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
