He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Phillips and Lois Phillips (Dalsasso); and his siblings, Judy Hanson, David and Kenneth.

He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Roger Hanson of LaCrosse and Kathy Phillips of Brownsville, MN; his niece Connie Hurd (Scott) of Tomah; his nephews, Russell Hanson (Tere) of Mesa, AZ and Matthew Phillips (Kristin) of Brownsville, MN; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Katlyn Martinez (Estevan), Payton Phillips, Benjamin Hurd (Heather Moore), Steven Hanson (Andrea) and Christopher Hanson (Cadie). He is also survived by 5 great-great nieces and nephews.
