He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Smith and Ollie Smith; his sister Lyndell Kanzler (late John); and his siblings-in-law, Eunice Reese, Rev. Frederic Kosanke and Leonard Rusch.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; and his siblings-in-law, Rhoda and Richard Reese.
