He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Armbruster and Mary Aileen Armbruster (Behnke); and his in-laws, Ray and Jeanette Theis. He is survived by: his wife Pat (Theis); his daughters, Anna Marie Whaley (Andrew) and Alina; his grandchildren, John "Jack", William and MaryAnn; and his siblings, Joan Shipman, Wendy Diaz and Peter (Therese). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
