Gordon E. Frie Obituary
Gordon E. Frie (96) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and Pearce, Arizona passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023.
Gordon, fondly known as Gordy, was born to Emil and Myrtle Frie (nee Leet) on April 4, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served his country in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Argonne in the Pacific theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. Gordy was a man of many interests and talents, and enjoyed anything with an engine that was fast! In the 1940's, he raced cars at Angell Park, Elkhart Lake, and Slinger Speedways. He became a licensed pilot and aircraft owner during the 60's traveling extensively with his family, a boating enthusiast and yacht owner in the 70's, then turned to owning and riding horses after retiring at age 60 and moving to Arizona with his wife Marianne (nee Buday) in 1987. There he made many friends, and enjoyed participating in rodeo, serving on the grand jury in Cochise County, and even racing four-wheel ATV's in Moab, Utah well into his 80's.
Gordy is survived by his two children, Patti Jo Witz (nee Frie) and her husband Doug, and Michael J. Frie and his wife Michelle, as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gordon's family will host a memorial funeral service on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 6:30pm. The service will be held at Metro Harvest Church located at N96 W14313 County Line Rd. in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
